Week 6 East County Game of the Week: Madison Warhawks 34, Grossmont Foothillers 13

It was a revenge game Friday night as the Madison Warhawks took the trip to Grossmont to try and pick up a win on their turf.

We pick this one up in the 2nd quarter, Jaylen Thomas finding Herman Smith  who runs it in to give Madison the 6-3 lead.

Then in the third, it is Thomas again this time to Keontae Springs who turns on the speed up the sideline and right inside the end zone for a 13-3 Warhawk lead.

But here comes Grossmont as Jaime Odom decides to take it in himself for 11 yards and to bring his team within 3.

That’s when Thomas goes I can do that too as he sneaks out of a jam and goes up the sideline 34 yards while dodging this final tackle to put the Warhawks up 19-10.

Then in the 4th, Keontae Springs sealing the deal going up the middle with the touchdown as Madison completes the upset win over Grossmont.

The final 34-13.

Preview: The East County Game of the Week matchup this week features two teams whose last time meeting was a game that will go down in history.

In the first round of the Division 1 playoffs, Madison and Grossmont went back and forth until it was down to a field goal for Madison to get the win. That was when the lights went out. After the delay, the kick went left and Grossmont completed the upset win, 44-42.

This Friday night, these two teams will meet again at Grossmont High School.

The Foothillers are currently 4-0 under head coach Tom Karlo and have pretty much taken down all of their opponents thus far. Some names to look out for on this team include quarterback Jaime Odom, Play of the Week winner Robert Tucker, and Brody Schicker.

As for the Warhawks, they are currently sitting at .500 under head coach Rick Jackson. They are without a couple of key players this season that have helped over the past couple years with success. But, some of the younger guys have stepped up into those positions to keep making Madison a competitive team.

This game will start at 7 on Friday night.
