Week 6 Pigskin Idol Game of the Week: Valhalla Norsemen 20, Kearny Komets 12

The Week 6 Pigskin Idol Game of the Week ended in the Valhalla Norsemen taking the win over the Kearny Komets, 20-12.

In the first, the Kearny Komets made it a point to get on the board first. Nico Estrada flew 60 yards down the field for the touchdown. Estrada made it 6-0, Kearny.

In the second, Valhalla’s Luke Pillsbury makes an impressive 60-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Nagel. Valhalla took the lead over Kearny, 7-6.

Again in the second, Kearny’s Dazure Pagget came up with the touchdown-saving interception, causing Kearny to hold out some of Valhalla’s points.

The second was clearly an exciting one, as Valhalla’s Kegan Baker ran 57 yards down the field, which would later set up a touchdown, causing Valhalla to up their lead, 13-6.

Between Kearny’s quarterback Mario Alves and Valhalla’s offensive speed, it was clear both teams were in it each and every quarter.

Baker walked away from the night with a total of two touchdowns.

Valhalla ups its record to 3-2, while Kearny drops to 2-3.

PREVIEW

Week 6 is already here. This week’s Pigskin Idol Game of the Week takes the Prep Pigskin Report to El Cajon, where the Valhalla Norsemen (2-2) host the Kearny Komets (2-2) this Friday night at 7.

Both teams have broken even with their records, and both teams are hoping this week falls into their favor.

Valhalla running back, Kegan Baker is someone who will be on Kearny’s radar this Friday night. Baker has notched eight touchdowns for the Norsemen and has a total of 468 rushing yards. Kearny will be keeping their eyes on him in this week’s matchup.

Kearny is fresh off of last week’s 49-27 win against University City. Can they carry that same energy into Week 6?

Kearny’s quarterback Mario Alves has been finding success in the pocket. He has only played four games and has a total of 983 passing yards under his belt. Yes, you read that right.

Alves has a solid core of options he can choose from this Friday night. Receivers like Devante Koyl-Fleming and Dazure Pagget have proven themselves to be reliable to connect with.

Valhalla’s rushing power and Kearny’s passing skills will be going head to head this Friday night and you aren’t going to want to miss the highlights.

Be sure to tune into KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report this Friday night at 11 p.m. for highlights and all things high school football.
