Madison Warhawks 45, Point Loma Pointers 33
Nothing like a homecoming victory.
That was the end result of the Point Loma versus Madison game in Week 8 of the Prep Pigskin Report.
Kenan Christon came into this matchup, showing why he is working on becoming a Silver Pigskin finalist. In just the first 20 seconds of the game, Christon ran the ball up the field on the kickoff return for 90 yards. That put the Warhawks on board first, 7 to 0. Christon was only warming up.
The Pointers answered back, with Myles Bryant rushing it 2 yards into the endzone for six points. With the extra point, score is 14 to 7 Madison.
In the second quarter, Christon makes it to the goal line once again- this time for 34 yards. The Warhawks lead 31 to 14 over the pack of Pointers.
The maroon and gold team still had fire in them. In the third quarter, Quarterback Tre Cobb finds Wes Windmiller for a 23-yard reception, cutting the lead 31 to 21.
But it still was not enough for the mighty Warhawks. Keontay Springs runs it in 16 yards for one of two last touchdowns of the game.
The final score of this one is 45 to 33, Madison. USC commit Kenan Christon with 5 of the receptions under his belt.
Madison now advances to 5-2, and Point Loma falls 4-3.
I would also like to say congratulations to Madison’s homecoming Queen and King, Ali Perez and Davon Lampkin.
PREVIEW: Week 8 of the Preg Pigskin Report takes us to my alma mater, Madison High School, as the Warhawks host the Point Loma Pointers for their Homecoming game at 6:30 p.m.
Both teams have a 4-2 record hoping to get a fifth victory this week. The Warhawks are hoping to back bounce after a lost to Cathedral Catholic, while Point Loma hopes to keep their winning streak going after claiming a “W” during their own homecoming game over University City.
Head coach Rick Jackson will lead the Warhawks and coach Mike Hastings will lead the pack of Pointers.
On the field, USC-commit Kenan Christon is a force to be reckoned with for the blue and gray squad. So far this season, he has put up nearly 600 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
But Christon will have to be aware of the Pointers’ J.L. Skinner, who is an all-around player. The defensive back and wide receiver has 50 tackles, and in Week 7 had a forced fumble that led to a touchdown in just the first half.
