Week 8: The Bishop’s School Knights 60, La Jolla Country Day Torreys 14
Echoing the words of its players, The Bishop’s School Knights felt right at home as the team flew past host La Jolla Country Day for a 60-14 victory.
The Knights scored early and often. A connection that you’ve no doubt grown to know and love clicked in this one.
After turning the ball over on downs and giving up a score, the Torreys couldn’t corral the ensuing kickoff and Bishop’s School quarterback Tyler Buchner made them pay.
Buchner found Clarence Freeman IV for a 10-yard touchdown. The Knights were up 16-0 just like that.
To make a bad “Knight” worse for Country Day, the Knights then recovered a loose ball on the very next kickoff.
Buchner capped this drive off with a 4-yard strike, this time finding Clay Petry for the score.
Buchner refused to be stopped. Shortly after the pass to Petry, Buchner decided to do it himself.
The quarterback kept the ball and ran for a 22-yard score.
Just before the half Buchner gave the crowd a taste of deja vu. He found Freeman IV for a 52-yard bomb to take the Knights into halftime up 54-6.
Buchner finished the game 26-of-31 for 300 yards and five touchdowns through the air. He also rushed in two.
Next up, the Knights have a home game against Tri-City Christian while the Torreys host Army-Navy.
