Game of the Week: San Marcos Knights/Torrey Pines Falcons: NO CONTEST

The game was declared a no contest after being cancelled due to lightning. It will be removed from their schedules and both Torrey Pines and San Marcos will just play a 9-game regular season schedule.

PREVIEW – The Cox Communications Game of the Week features undefeated Torrey Pines (7-0) hosting San Marcos (6-1) in an Avocado League showdown. The Falcons feature a workmanlike approach with smash mouth styles of offense and defense while the Knights have a quick-strike ability to put points on the board quickly. The contrast in styles adds additional intrigue.

Senior quarterback Miles Hastings is often called upon to lead the comebacks. He has thrown for 1,071 yards, 10 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He has three receivers leading the way, Zavion Reese (14.9), Jalen Bainer (14.6), and Dane Olsen (14.4) who are averaging over 14 yards per catch.

Senior defensive end Quinn Roff is a terror on defense with 13 sacks and 15 tackles for loss.

Torrey Pines is led by senior running back Mac Bingham, who has rushed for 910 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Jason Heine triggers the offense. He keeps opposing defenses honest by completing 68 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and no interceptions. He is the Falcons’ third-leading rusher with 346 yards and four touchdowns.
