Week 9 Pigskin Idol Game: Patrick Henry Patriots 44, Mission Bay Buccaneers 43

This Week 9 matchup between the Patrick Henry Patriots and the Mission Bay Buccaneers was a night we will never forget. The final score came down to the final seconds, with Patrick Henry taking the thrilling win, 44-43, over the Buccaneers.

In the first quarter, Mission Bay’s sophomore quarterback Clash Orsborn found Evan Aguon for a 15-yard touchdown pass, making it 14-0, Mission Bay.

Then Patrick Henry responded with Matt Castillo connecting with Kai Jessie 11 yards down the field for the touchdown, putting the Patriots on the board at 14-6.

In the third quarter, Patrick Henry’s Elijaih Lux exploded out the gate. Lux sped 41 yards past defenders into the end zone, making it 21-14, with Mission Bay still leading.

Again in the third, Mission Bay’s Orsborn hit a reliable target, Aguon, with an impressive 44-yard touchdown pass. This duo ups Mission Bay’s lead to 28-14.

Now in the fourth, after Patrick Henry was driving the ball down the field, Lux made a crucial 2-yard touchdown run. He gave the Patriots a score of 29 as they chased Mission Bay’s 35.

After Mission Bay turned the ball over, Patrick Henry recovered it and that would set up a game-changing play – Matt Castillo’s 7 yard touchdown run that would cause Patrick Henry to take the lead for the first time on the night against Mission Bay, 36-35.

Mission Bay’s Aguon added a 2-yard touchdown run and the 2-point conversion handed the lead back to the Buccaneers, 43-36.

Then, Patrick Henry’s Lux rushed nine yards into the end zone, tightening the score, 43-42.

This is where you think a field goal would be attempted to tie the game up with less than a minute and a half? You are wrong. The Patriots decided to take the risk and attempt a two-point conversion and it paid off. After Castillo took it into the endzone, Patrick Henry led, 44-43.

But it wasn’t over.

With four seconds left in the game, Mission Bay found itself attempting a 47-yard field goal to win the game.

It was no good.

The Patriots basked in the success and rushed the field. A night to remember indeed.

The final, 44-43. Patrick Henry improves to 5-3 and Mission Bay drops to 4-4.
