Weekend Events in San Diego

It’s the first weekend in June and there are lots of fun things to do in San Diego. Entertainment Reporter Laura Cain visited the studio Saturday morning to give KUSI the rundown.

(This year’s theme is “How Sweet It Is.” 500 shopping opportunities, 100-plus concerts, 80 rides and dozens of exhibits. More than a million people are expected to attend the fair’s 26-day run.) Sugarland takes the grandstand stage Saturday night. Banda El Recodo plays Sunday night

The Wiggles

(This is the first time in five years that The Wiggles have performed in San Diego. They are the world’s top entertainers for the preschool set. Since 2005, The Wiggles have performed 350 shows across the globe.)

(This is San Diego’s newest outdoor movie venue. It opened just a few weeks ago. Moulin Rouge is the movie you’ll see Saturday but the hits and classics continue all summer. )

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K

Waterfront Park 1600 Pacific Hwy, downtown
(The route for the marathon, 1/2 marathon and 5K covers a large section of the city from Mission Bay to Kensington and from Mission Valley to the Embarcadero. As a result, there are a number of road closures including Friars Road and State Route 163. On Saturday, the 5K begins at 7 a.m. near Balboa Park. On Sunday, the marathon and the 1/2 marathon start at 6:15 a.m. as waves of runners tackle the course. The race event ends around 2:30 p.m. San Diego residents and visitors can expect road closures and delays between 5:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Eighteen bus routes will have detours due to the course.)

RB Alive! Expo Street Fair

(This is the 30th annual street fair, one of the largest in the community. Crowds of up to 35,000 will enjoy music on two stages, crafts and kid zone and health screenings.)
