West Hills 26, Mission Bay 13

Kicking off Week 1 in the East County, the Buccaneers will face the Wolf Pack this Friday night at 7pm. According to West Hills head coach, Coach Ash, “Mission Bay and West Hills have not crossed paths many times (maybe never), but it is an important game in regards to playoff seating as we are both D2 teams.”

Another interesting fact about both teams this year is that they are very young. Both schools are trying to reload after losing strong senior classes, leaving West Hills with only 2 returning starters and Mission Bay with 6. Speaking with Coach Matson, head coach of Mission Bay, he’s excited to see what Friday night brings to his team. The young Buccaneers have good speed, skills and they play scrappy. Mission Bay’s test most importantly is breaking in their new quarter back. He hopes his new QB adjusts well to the transition from practice to game time. It’ll be a whole new world for him under those Friday night lights.

Overall, this non-conference game will showcase both team’s strengths and weaknesses. Coaches are mainly looking for progress and running their plays right. It’ll be a great game for both teams to get on the field and play against a squad with similar challenges.
