Woman accidentally drives SUV into neighbor’s pool

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Here's one kind of “car-pooling” that definitely
should be avoided.

A Clairemont woman Thursday accidentally sent her SUV smashing through the
back wall of her own garage, across her back yard and straight into a
neighbor's swimming pool.

The non-injury accident in the 4600 block of Lehrer Drive occurred about
2:30 p.m., according to police and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The vehicle crashed over a hedge and two fences before plunging into the
shallow end of the pool, SDFRD spokesman Maurice Luque said. The 67-year-old
driver was able to extricate herself from the SUV, which came to rest on its
wheels, about two-thirds submerged.

It was unclear if the woman might have mistakenly hit the gas pedal
instead of the brake — a frequent cause of similar car wrecks. Intoxication
was not a factor, Luque said.
