Woman arrested on suspicion of stabbing boyfriend to death

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 47-year-old woman was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion
of fatally stabbing her longtime boyfriend and leaving his body in the San
Diego River.

Jayne Marie Colantonio of San Diego was booked into Las Colinas women's
jail in Santee on suspicion of first-degree murder about 12:30 a.m., according
to San Diego police.

About 6 1/2 hours earlier, a fisherman found the dead man in the river
near Friars Road in the Grantville area. During resuscitation efforts,
paramedics found a stab wound in his chest, homicide Sgt. Manuel Del Toro said.

The identify of the victim, who was in his 40s, was withheld pending
family notification.

Colantonio was in custody without bail pending arraignment, scheduled
for Friday afternoon.

The motive for the alleged slaying was unclear.
