Woman dies in collision with Border Patrol vehicle

CHULA VISTA (CNS) – A woman was fatally injured when her SUV collided
with a U.S. Border Patrol SUV at a Chula Vista intersection, police said Wednesday.

The crash between the woman's Toyota RAV4 and the marked Border Patrol
vehicle occurred at the intersection of Olympic Parkway and Brandywine Avenue
about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The woman had been headed east on Olympic Parkway when the westbound
agent attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Brandywine Avenue, and the
two collided, Chula Vista police Lt. Don Redmond said.

The injured woman was extricated from the wreckage and taken to a
hospital, where she died, police said. Her name was withheld pending family
notification.

The Border Patrol agent was taken to a hospital with minor injuries,
Redmond said.

The crash remained under investigation, police said.

Westbound traffic on Olympic Parkway was temporarily diverted onto
northbound Brandywine Avenue and eastbound traffic on Olympic Parkway was
detoured onto Oleander Avenue, but the roadways were reported cleared by about
4:20 a.m., police said.
