Woman jailed on suspicion of murdering infant

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 32-year-old Southcrest woman was jailed Thursday on suspicion of murdering her infant son last year.

San Diego police homicide detectives arrested Guadalupe O’Campos about 7 a.m at her home in the 1600 block of South 43rd Street, SDPD Lt. Mike Hastings said.

On Sept. 5, 2013, physicians at Rady Children’s Hospital alerted police to suspicious head injuries suffered by O’Campos’ 9-month-old son, Kevin Machado. The baby died later that night.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office classified the child’s death as a homicide.

O’Campos was booked into Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon, the lieutenant said.
