Woman sexually assaulted by knife-wielding man in Kearny Mesa, suspect on the loose

KEARNY MESA (KUSI) – A knife-wielding man forced a woman into a car Thursday night and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The crime was reported about 3:30 a.m. at Shawline Street and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard on Kearny Mesa, police said.

"The suspect threatened the victim with a 7-inch knife and forced her to get into a car,” sex crime detectives said. "She was then sexually assaulted.”

The suspect, who was not identified or described, was driving a maroon pickup truck.

Police said the unidentified victim was safe and had been interviewed following the incident.

An investigation by the Sex Crimes unit was continuing.
