Woman who gave birth during Padres game reunited with nurse who helped her
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The San Diego Padres welcomed an honorary member of the team Thursday after a woman gave birth during the third inning at Petco Park.
"Born to be Wild” blasted over the speakers at the East Village ballpark as stadium officials announced that baby Levi was born during the third inning.
"We welcomed a baby boy to the world in Palm Court Plaza earlier this evening,” Petco Park officials said via Twitter at 8:42 p.m. Thursday. "First baby to be born at Petco Park!”
A Tweet from the Padres said "Great crowd of 31,137 here tonight — of course that doesn’t include the baby boy that was born @PetcoPark around the third inning.”
The mother began having contractions around 4:30 p.m. but still headed to Petco Park for the 6:10 p.m. A nurse working at the ballpark delivered the baby in front of the Padres store.
Padres outfielder Travis Jankowski told a local news agency that little Levi is now an honorary member of the team.
