Woman’s attempt at Downtown bank robbery fails

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A woman who claimed to be carrying a concealed weapon
made a failed attempt to rob a Gaslamp District bank Monday.

The thief, who appeared to be in her late 30s or early 40s, handed a
demand note to a teller at the Bank of America branch office in the 400 block
of Island Avenue in downtown San Diego shortly after 9 a.m., according to the
FBI.

After looking at the written message, in which the bandit claimed to
have some sort of weapon, the clerk notified a co-worker, and both walked away
without turning over any cash. The would-be robber then left the bank.

Witnesses described her as a roughly 5-foot-5-inch, 140-pound Filipina
wearing brown pants, a green blouse, a green sweater with horizontal white
stripes, black shoes and black sunglasses.
