World Refugee Day in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – World Refugee Day is on Thursday, June 20 and Catholic Charities in San Diego plan to commemorates the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees worldwide.

San Diego alone has seen an 85 percent increase in the number of refugees resettling in the area over the last year. And while as U.S. citizens, it is easy to turn a blind eye to conditions overseas, World Refugee Day reminds us of the unimaginable obstacles this global population faces and celebrates its members’ courage and strength, according to the non-profit.

During the event people can participate in meaningful dialogue and foster understanding in our community, all while enjoying hors de’oeuvres prepared by our refugee and immigrant neighbors. The discussion takes place at Catholic Charities. There is a morning session in Spanish, and an evening session in English. RSVP at https://www.ccdsd.org/world-refugee-day-sign-up.
