Wrong-way crash in Miramar kills driver

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A motorist was killed early Friday in a crash involving a wrong-way driver and a semi truck on state Route 163 near Miramar, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A silver Nissan Xterra and the big rig collided in the southbound lanes at state Route 52 shortly after 1:30 a.m., according to the CHP.

The semi was on its side, missing an axle and was blocking two lanes, CHP officials said. The truck’s driver said the truck would need to be unloaded.

Southbound traffic was temporarily diverted off state Route 163 and onto westbound state Route 52, but all lanes on the 163 were reported cleared shortly before 6 a.m.
