Yacht rams police patrol boat in San Diego Bay
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A charter yacht backed into a moored and unoccupied harbor police patrol boat at a dock on the east side of San Diego Bay Friday, causing minor damage.
The non-injury accident occurred off the 900 block of North Harbor Drive shortly after 2 p.m., according to the San Diego Harbor Police.
The 42-foot law enforcement vessel sustained damage to its port bow rail, San Diego Harbor Patrol Lt. Dominick Boccia said. The boat, one of five in the agency’s fleet, will be out of commission pending repairs, which were expected to cost less than $5,000.
There was no reported damage to the 151-foot Lord Hornblower yacht, which had just taken on a load of passengers for an outing when the crash happened.
