Yes on 6 campaign releases government records showing gas fund misuse

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The Yes on 6 campaign to repeal California’s gas tax held a news conference to release a collection of government documents and records that the campaign claims show examples of waste, fraud and abuse of gas tax funds by Caltrans and local transit authorities in San Diego.

The records and documents were obtained through the California Public Records Act process – and cover only materials received back from San Diego Association of Governments and San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

Other local government agencies also receive and spend gas tax funds – raising the question of how many more examples of waste of gas tax funds exist in the San Diego region.
