Zoo debuts newest event “Play Days”

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – San Diego Zoo officials Friday showed off the new entrance to the park and a freshly painted red tour bus to launch its latest event, “Play Days.”

The breezeway where visitors first go inside the zoo includes busts of gorillas and large photographs of founder Harry Wegeforth and its first bear and first lion, said park spokeswoman Yadira Galindo.

“It provides a sense of arrival, it provides a sense of history of the San Diego Zoo,” Galindo said.

The zoo also has new color-coded pathways.

“Play Days” begins on Saturday, with 23 days for visitors to experience a different animal experience, from feeding giraffes to watching an elephant get a manicure.

Young guests to the zoo on Saturday morning will get to meet the costumed character Po from “Kung Fu Panda 2,” due in theaters May 26.
